In the year 1842, Inventor Jerome Increase Case founded Case in Racine. He started making threshing machines. The company later gained worldwide recognition as the initial builder of steam engines for its agricultural use. Eventually, the company grew to become the world's biggest maker of steam engines.



By 1912, Case had become established within the construction equipment industry. The rapidly began to manufacture road building machines like steam rollers and graders. Case grew their construction machinery business through various acquisitions, starting with the American Tractor Corporation during 1957.
