In the year 1842, Inventor Jerome Increase Case founded Case in Racine. He started making threshing machines. The company later gained worldwide recognition as the initial builder of steam engines for its agricultural use. Eventually, the company grew to become the world's biggest maker of steam engines.
By 1912, Case had become established within the construction equipment industry. The rapidly began to manufacture road building machines like steam rollers and graders. Case grew their construction machinery business through various acquisitions, starting with the American Tractor Corporation during 1957. Case had expanded their business by the mid-1990s to become the leading maker of light-sized to medium-sized construction machines.
Case merged with the corporation New Holland in the year 1999 and together they became CNH Global. This business became responsible for marketing several of the leading brands of construction and agricultural equipment in the world.
Case has been responsible for a lot of industry firsts, while continuing to this day to take a role creating new products and solutions for the materials handling industry.
