How to Charge a Scissor Lift
Many people appreciate the convenience of using a scissor lift. The convenience of working and the safety offered from the lift's basket offer a lot more piece of mind than trying to complete a similar task utilizing the step of a ladder. The safety risks involved with this particular machinery make it the best choice for carrying jobs from heights.
Most scissor lifts are operated by batteries that are internally mounted in the lift's base. These batteries have to be charged following a long shift or due to sitting after extended periods without use. It is a simple job to charge the batteries. This could be carried out without any particular equipment or tools and requires no heavy labor.
The machinery has to be positioned next to an electrical output so as to prepare the scissor lift for charging. This charging area must also be in a well-ventilated area. After that, in order to avoid another operator from driving away with the lift plugged in, press the emergency shut-off switch. The emergency shut off switch is the large red button found near the charger or the control box, in the basket of the lift. Find the battery charger on the right side of the base of the lift. Usually, older units would have the charger mounted on the rear of the lift.
Next, plug the charger into the AC extension cord. Be certain you are charging in a place that is well ventilated and afterward plug the extension cord into an electrical outlet. So as to avoid accidental damage from being run over, the length of the electrical cord on the battery charger is intentionally short. This is because if any extra length were to drop out of the battery charger storage place when in use, extreme danger can potentially occur.
