Motorized Pallet Truck
A Motorized Pallet Truck often goes by other names including: Walkie or Walkie-Rider. These pieces of machinery are basically a motorized version of a pallet jack. They come in both "Rider" versions and "Walkie" models.
The walkie type as the name implies, is made to enable the operator to walk along the machine as they pick up and move cargo. The operator stands on a small platform on the Rider model. The rider models are ideal for frequent moving of cargo over extended distances in warehouses and manufacturing applications. They are really maneuverable and fast.
It is not recommended to lift and transport unstable or tall loads as there are no safety cages on these models. A rider can be the perfect answer if you are looking for an inexpensive method for transporting loads from one place to another. If though, you are required to transport heavy loads short distances, and prefer to use a more employee-friendly unit instead of a pallet jack, the walkie model might be the best choice.
Order Selector
The order picker or order selector is a piece equipment made specially for manual handling of less-than-pallet-load quantities in racking. There are fixed forks attached to a platform in the Man-up design. This platform elevates both the load and the operator in order to facilitate manual loading and unloading from racking areas.
Order Selectors are normally very narrow aisle vehicles that can work in aisles of less than six feet. They are extremely useful pieces of machinery during physical inventories as well as during cycle counting situations. Order selectors are available in lift heights up to 40 feet high, though models which range in the 20 to 30 foot range are much more common.
