Aisle Types
Lift trucks are classified due to the types of aisles they have been designed to operate in. Wide Aisle and Narrow Aisle lift trucks are designed to turn in the aisle, whereas Very Narrow Aisle trucks really don't turn within the aisle. There are several aisle widths to take into consideration with different units.
Very Narrow Aisle or VNA trucks operate in less than 6 feet places and often utilize certain guidance systems such as rail, wire or optical systems in order to travel in the aisles. Several different models of VNA trucks include Turret Trucks, Swing Masts and Order Selectors. These are common models in tight retail areas and in some storage and warehouse situations.
Narrow Aisle or NA trucks could operate in aisles that are 8 feet to 10 feet. Normally these are stand-up units like for instance Reach Trucks. They are commonly utilized within storage facilities and warehouses.
Wide Aisle Standard forklifts fall into this truck category and are designed to work in aisles that are more than 11 feet wide.
Stand-Up Ergonomics
The stand-up ergonomics include "Ergomat" padding with a sloped floorboard which is made to lessen operator exhaustion by absorbing vibration. The compartment for the driver is large and has an 8" low step height that helps lessen overall body fatigue by easing frequent entry and exit. The model includes polyurethane steer tires to absorb vibration and shocks caused by uneven floor in order to enable smooth traveling. For additional comfort, there is a cushioned armrest and floor mat along with a backrest designed to help keep operators comfortable and thus more productive while limiting exhaustion.
