Reach Truck
A reach truck is used to pile up supplies, pallets of goods, and to keep storage places orderly. The reach truck is available in quite a few types: the double-deep reach, straddle reach and the stand-up reach.
The stand-up is the simplest. The forks of the truck slide under the pallet and move it to the correct storage location. The forks slide the pallet into position. This particular kind of reach truck is suitable when shelving units are just one pallet deep.
The double-deep reach truck is like the stand-up, but is best for workplaces where shelving units are deep enough to accommodate two pallets of goods. This particular version has telescopic forks intended to place the pallet at the back of the shelving unit. This saves having to push the pallet back when one more pallet must go into the same shelving section.
Straddle reaches have the added advantage of being able to not only slide beneath the pallet, but also to grasp the sides. These are suitable for workplaces where shelving units can be accessed in many directions. This version is best in conditions where goods would not be damaged if the pallet sides are grabbed.
Normally more than one type of reach truck is required in warehouses. Textile firms and manufacturing facilities utilize different kinds of reach trucks in their supply areas. The reach truck is not hard to operate and could make the most of available storage space while increasing productivity.
